Fajar Bumi Sakti manages a concession area of 8,250.5 hectares with total coal reserves of 335 million tonnes of 4,000-6,150 kcal (GAR) coal. In December 2010, FBS ceased underground mining at Loa Ulung due to safety considerations. Currently there are two mining areas: Loa Ulung (Open Pit) and Tabang, both in East Kalimantan.FBS’s operational open pit mine at Loa Ulung sits on an area of 984.5 hectares and produced 254,425 tonnes of 6,150 kcal (GAR) coal in 2011. This coal was shipped to customers of KPC. To extract the 14 million tonnes of coal reserves, new pieces of equipment were acquired in 2011. Acquired originally as two independent concessions, the 7,266 hectare Tabang area contains 321 million tonnes of minable reserves of 4,000 kcal (GAR) coal. Infrastructure preparation has been underway in Tabang and open pit mining production is expected to commence mid 2012. Production is expected to be 500,000 to 1,000,000 tonnes in 2012, increasing to 10,000,000 tonnes by 2017. To support the Tabang site production, FBS has acquired 11 hectares of land by end of 2010 at Kutabangun, Kutai Kartenegara, East Kalimantan, which will function as an Intermediary Stock Pile, facilitating more economic and effective coal transportation. |
